Below: Swollen lymph nodes are always concerning.
If they completely disappear in the next week to ten days, then it is less concerning.

If there is any question, any residual swelling, or if you have other symptoms-sweating, fever, fatigue, then you need to be seen.

In short, you must feel completely normal and the noses gone or you need to see a DR.

Yes: Most lumps in back are sebaceous cysts or lipomas. If a lesion there were malignant it would drain to axilla and not neck.  The lump should be examined to define its nature and then if excsion not indicated, the nature of the cervical nodes should be evaluated.  This can only be accomplished by a physician.

After 2-3 weeks: If you have sore throat, the lymph nodes may be tender and swollen for 2-3 weeks and then settle down. Otherwise any painless enlargement of lymph nodes requires a medical examination to find the cause. So you need to see your dcotor if they do not settle down in 2, 3 to 4 weeks.

More than one choice: Any family doctor can help you and guide you further. Ent doctors handle most swollen glands in he neck area where they are commonly due to infections. If you have swollen glands in the armpits, then you need to go to a general surgeon or a family doctor or pcp.

the oral surgeon couldn't get me in for a consultation until february, but i'm struggling to calm swollen + bruised lymph nodes from the back of head to the armpit caused by impacted wisdom teeth. any tips til i see the doc? thank you?

: The only suggestion I can give you is to find another oral surgeon. If it is going to take over six months to get an appointment there is something amiss. Will it take you a year to have that impacted wisdom tooth removed?

Lymph nodes: Swelling of lymph nodes is common with any infection. If they stay swollen then you should be evaluated and have some routine blood work done.

Depending upon what has casued them to become enlarged it could be permanant

Lots of doctors: A good family doc or internal medicine doc could certainly help.  If the swollen glands are by your neck, an ENT would help.  If you need a biopsy, a general surgeon could fill the bill
