Absolutely: A lot of root canal post op is based on common sense. If you floss and it hurts wait a day or two. Rinsing isn't an issue. Sometime brushing can be sore so go soft. Same with eating. I always tell someone not to chew on tooth unless putting pressure on it with tongue doesn't hurt. Even tgen keep it soft for a bit.

what to do if i have to take 600 mg clindamycin before my root canal at 1 pm. is it safe?

Should be....: As long as you are not allergic to clindamycin.  I'd imagine that this recommendation is based on some heart or joint replacement issues.  The doctor is probably making sure that there is no collateral damage to your heart or artificial joints.

how long can i wait before having a root canal? i can't afford it right now, but my insurance will kick in in a couple of months. is it safe to wait that long? i'm not having any pain, just a little sensitivity when i eat.

This : This is a common question that patients ask me all the time.  Many patients try to wait for insurance coverage to do root canals, crowns, or larger priced dentistry.  If your symptoms are mild and you do not have an active infection then, it is not a big deal to wait a short amount of time.  Root canals are treatment planned for a couple of reasons, but the most common reason is when bacteria from a cavity infect the nerve and blood supply to the tooth.  Be sure to discuss with your dentist, any medical conditions that you have.  These could be aggravated by an infection in your mouth.  Also find out how much of the procedure your dental insurance will cover.  Many insurance companies will have different waiting periods or high deductibles and you want to be sure the cost saving it is worth the wait.

NO: Make sure you consult with the endodontist before you take these meds.  Also make sure you avoid driving or doing any activity that demands full attention.

: Removing a well fitting crown is not necessary. A hole can be drilled through the top for access to the pulp chamber and canals. If the margins are starting to break down after seven years it's time for a new crown, too.

took prednisone 8 days, tapered down. yesterday was last dose, but today, root canal pain may mean restarting the pred. is it safe to restart, to go back up to 30mg and taper down again? are back to back courses of pred safe?

: It is unusual to prescribe prednisone for root canal pain. Call your dentist for details.

Yes: There is no know direct correlation between trigeminal neuralgia and dental pain.

THC use: It is not safe to use THC. I am not sure how you will use this during the root canal treatments as your mouth will be open.
