A person can have both an allergy to wheat &amp; antibody triggering from gluten intake. You define celiac by having the antibody tests &amp; if positive, an intestinal biopsy.

Yes: If the hypothyroidism is caused by an autoimmune process, it is possible for allergy testing of other items to show false positives. I would get the thyroid disease settled down and retest or see allergist about alternative ways to test for wheat allergy that would not cross react with the thyroid antibodies the body is producing.

Yes,but: Some allergists will use pin prick testing to define skin sensitivity to a panel of agents, like wheat or beef, etc. They may not be as sensitive as blood tests which are often done at the same time to gain a better understanding of the patients issues. If positive by skin and blood, it would be better documented than by either method done alone and more worth the effort to avoid the food.

Not surprising: Need to talk to your doctor.  Iron-def has been linked to  hair loss but there are other causes for it. At the minimum , you need to find the cause for your anemia.  I also don't understand when your hgb levels were obtained.  Was it 10.8 now but 7-8 2 years ago or vice versa?

Symptoms: Having a positive immunoglobulin response is common. Do you have symptoms. Do you get abdominal pain or diarrhea associated with eating wheat products. Do you have other symptoms such as rash or perhaps sinus congestion?

Gastrointestinal doctors can do a small intestine biopsy, if needed, to help diagnose celiac disease.
