Skin or blood tests: Wheat allergy, as with most food allergies, can be tested for with a blood test looking for antibodies to food proteins. A allergist can also do skin tests for various food allergies. Celiac disease (gluten allergy) can be tested for with special blood tests (the genetic markers can be found). Gastrointestinal doctors can do a small intestine biopsy, if needed, to help diagnose celiac disease.
