I wouldn't: The manufacturer does not condone any use in kids under age 10. Stool softening agents like Miralax (US) can be used are available over the counter in many areas. Their gentile action allows them to be used for long periods without side effects.

No: The laxative you mentioned should not affect the baby. However, you may wish to use a fiber laxative like Metamucil and drink plenty water so that your urine is mostly colorless. You may also increase your intake of fiber foods. Consult this site for fiber foods.

High fiber diet: Rather than medication consider a modification of your diet.Eat lots of fruits and vegetable , nuts, raisins, prunes and dates. Reduce milk and milk products.  Have high fibered foods such as beans and legumes as well as jigh fiber cereals.

Constipation/fissure: Usually psyllium, decreased dairy products (they harden the stool), increased water, stool softener, non-steroidal preparation h up inside the anus daily and see a physician for some Nitroglycerin cream (pharmacologically relaxes internal sphincter).

Don't know for sure: Alex plus syrup contains guafenesin, dextromethorphan and phenylephrine..  Class C drug, Animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well controlled studies in humans. I would avoid it.

Not at all: The first months are impaired by their narrow nasal passages which react more than adults to fragrances, smoke &amp; other irritants.  They cause congestion &amp; produce rattling/cough with breathing.The best rx is washing out the nose with saline &amp; SUCTIONING the remainder. Eliminate irritants from babies environment &amp; this will happen less. Cough syrups make them worse.
