ive been using valsartan for hypertension reasons but had to stop because it causes me epididymitis, now i use  atorvastatin and its giving me vivid dreams. is there anything better i can use with less side effects ?

Medication : You can speak to a doctor about changing your medication. I remember and a patient who had 20 medications on her allergy list, but when you continue to ask her details about the side effects you come to realize she did not want any medication because she believed that all medication is bad for her. : This type of steroid treatment can give a patient an appetite increase. It is not the type of steroid that would interfere with menses. Long term side effects of steroids depend on dosing &amp; frequency and rarely are features of sporadic use.

5-HTP: 5-htp is a precursor of serotonin -- commercially  prepared from the plant griffonia simplicifolia.  It has many uses, including stress, anxiety, panic attacks, pain, fibromyalgia, obesity, depression, cerebellar ataxia, etc.  There have been cases of eosinophilic myalgia from impure products, but is safe if using products from reliable companies.  Se's are mostly gi: nausea, diarrhea, etc.

: JJ, Moderna and Pfizer all have significant benefit in protection against COVID.  Pfizer and Moderna require a second dose, and JJ does not.  The major benefit to encourage use of any of those vaccines is the significant reduction of hospitalization/death resulting from non-use, so any of the listed vaccines is recommended strongly.

Unexpected: Aside from the expected side effects such as leg edema (which subsides after stopping the drug),  there is no serious side effects from the drug. On the other hand, uncontrolled hypertension poses a great risk to your health (especially the odds of a stroke and cardiac problem).

Paraldehyde & EtOH: Paraldehyde is a different chemical from ethanol, but was used to sedate in alcohol withdrawal (delirium tremens, or "dt's"). Also until the '60's, it was used for sleep in psychiatric hospitals.  It's a CNS depressant like ethanol but creates a more unpleasant odor on the breath.  It can be used as an anticonvulsant in status epilepticus & doesn't suppress respiration @ therapeutic doses.

Have check up first : Before you go on this medicine have full exam and labs done . Std screen, HIV test, kidney and liver functions. Make sure to be up to date with vaccines ( Hep B ). Side effects as common are nausea, headache, abnormal liver function and glucose and blood count abnormalities... just to mention few . Av course risks and benefits ratio is important. Check w your doctor .

: In my opinion, all of these types of isotretinoin are similar enough to use interchangeably. See your dermatologist for the proper dosage and guidance.

Accepted Answer

Some severe: Mostly stomach cramps and diarrhea for some people but people can have a severe allergic reaction, which causes breathing trouble and can even cause death, rarely seizures, a severe skin condition called toxic epidermal necrolysis and steven-johnson's syndrome. Most people do not have any trouble with it. I always recommend eating yogurt with an active culture to help the stomach issues.
