Whats the long term effects on using diltiazem?

Unexpected: Aside from the expected side effects such as leg edema (which subsides after stopping the drug), there is no serious side effects from the drug. On the other hand, uncontrolled hypertension poses a great risk to your health (especially the odds of a stroke and cardiac problem).

Needs monitoring: Any medicine will have some side effects. With Diltiazem you need to monitor Kidney and liver functions. Read label for common and rare side effects. Mostly safe. I read a study that mentioned practical no side long term side effects but everyone is different and responds to medicine differently. We should make decision based on Risk and benefits.
