i have had high lymphocytes in my blood tests for the past 3 years. the 'normal range' being 1-3 and mine being anything from 3.84-6. i am always tired and have bad hairloss. could this be linked and should i see an hematologist? doctors not bothered?

: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, your counts are not higher than normal and are an unlikely cause of your symptoms.

: Elevation of wbc's is frequently b/c of infection, so a revisit with your physician, and repeat CBC may be in order, with additional testing to determine the cause of the wbc increase over normal.

Lymphocytosis: This means either 1) viral syndrome and it will get better or normal 2) a monoclonal lymphoproliferative disorder like cll. It will need further work up and monitoring.

went for 1st physical. doctor ordered blood work. my lymphocytes were  elevated at 3.2x10^9/l everything else is ok . one month later i got another blood test, but this time my lymphocytes were 3.7x10^9/l.going again in 2 months. should i be worried?

: According to some labs, your lymphocyte count, being less than 4.0, is within normal limits. If the rest of your CBC &amp;differential cell count is normal, you have no worries. If you're still concerned after your next CBC&amp;diff, consult a hematologist for evaluation and advice.

what can cause a low wbc (3.9), high red cell dist width (14.8), low neutrophil (1.94), and low lymphocyte (1.35)? everything else came back normal on my cbc and unfortunately my doctor is unavailable to explain the results. thank you.

Any symptoms?: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, it may be your normal. African Americans have lower WBC count than what may be considered normal. If you do not have fever or any other symptoms. You can wait to talk to your doctor.

hello. i just had a very bad food poisoning (temporarily living in india). the doctor here took a blood test to check for dengue and malaria. came back negative, however my neutrophils count was high (88) and lymphocytes low (8). is that normap durin?

High: neutrophils with low lymphocytes is seen in bacterial infections and in some EARLY viral infections. It seems to me that your specific problem involves a lot more possible infectious age than Dengue and Malaria (which is NOT a Gastrointestinal disease!!)

: These are minimally abnormal test results and do not point to any particular cause. They probably have little or nothing to do with your mother's symptoms. Keep working with her doctor. Good luck.

2 swollen lymph nodes in neck history of melanoma cbc normal apart from high lymphocytes chest x-ray normal, doc not doing any more tests, worried.

Questions: Lots of questions to help figure this out. Where are the nodes, where was the melanoma, how deep was it and how was it treated? How long ago was the melanoma found? If the nodes are in the drainage basin of the primary melanoma, that is more cause for worry than if they are elsewhere.
