Please see below.: Eczema is in the same family of conditions as allergies and asthma. It can't be cured but usually can be controlled. It is best managed by using a sensitive skin cleanser, avoiding bathing in very hot water, and using a sensitive skin lotion at least 3 times daily, even when the rash isn't there. If doing this plus Hydrocortisone 1% ointment twice daily isn't enough, please see the doctor.

They come in a variety of strengths that are used for different areas of the body. Overuse of these medications can lead to side effects such as thinning of the skin and lightening the color of the skin. Use only unscented soaps and moisturizers also. Eczema: Mild eczema can be treated with moisturizers, mild sopa, and an over the counter 1% Hydrocortisone cream. If there is trouble with itching, you can give occasional diphenhydramine(benedryl) if not improving or more persistent eczema, he should be seen by his doctor. The doctor can prescribe stronger steroid creams as well as be sure there is not also a skin infection.

Dry Skin Care: 1. Use a mild soap--dove
2. Shower or bathe no more than once daily
3. Do not rub the skin with a towel--dab.
4. Apply moisturizer while your skin is still a little moist. Oils and ointments are much better than creams. Creams are much better than lotions. Lotions are better than nothing.
4. Avoid clothing that irritates the skin--i.e. Wool
5. Use a mild detergent like ivory snow or all free.

Gentle cleaners: Use of soap free, fragrance free cleansers are best. Some companies make body wash oils that are marketed for eczema as well. After bathing liberal use of moisturizer is recommended.

Not unsafe: Aquaphor is not unsafe for eczema but may not be helpful other than helping dry skin.  My best ointment for eczema would be bagbalm, available in a green can at any pharmacy or grocery.  It is lanolin-based with a little bit of coal tar.

Acid and avoidance: Common warts respond to salicylic acid preparations, cryotherapy by your doctor, sometimes fungal antigen injection to trigger an immune response against it, and often just time.  Eczema is a sensitivity syndrome and responds best to strict avoidance of irritants such as perfumed or colored shampoos, lotions, detergents, etc.  It also improves with simple emollient creams and sometimes steroids

Various Options...: Shower daily with lukewarm water for 10-15 minutes. Use a gentle cleansing bar or wash in the sensitive skin formulation as needed such as Vanicream, Dove white bar, Cetaphil, or Cerave. Avoid harsh and drying cleansers, such as Ivory, Irish Spring, or Lever 2000. Pat away excess water and immediately apply moisturizer like Vanicream.
