Novo TTF: The fda (us food and drug administration) has approved a new treatment for patients as an alternative to chemotherapy. The promising new non-invasive treatment by novocure uses "tumor treating fields" (novottf) to treat cancerous growths and is now available for adult patients with recurring brain tumors (recurrent glioblastoma or gbm). This is latest for cancer rx and is being used other cancers.

Yes: There are a number of ways to keep a patient confortable. The hospice and palliative care teams are great at this. They also do so in a caring and compassionate way so that the patient and family suffer as little as is possible.

Interesting term: All cancers can display a wide range of behavior, from very slow, to very fast growing. This is true even of small cell cancer, which has a well-earned reputation of growing rapidly and spreading early, often before it's detected. I've never heard the term "sleeper cell" used in this field, but if it applies anywhere, this might be a reasonable description of all lung cancer, esp small cell.

Small cell cancer: Most cancers have a volume doubling time of about 3 months, except small cell cancer. Problem with small cell cancer is that it goes fast, may have no symptoms initially and can go be in multiple organs the time it is diagnosed, and can include the lining of the heart and can cause fluid and compression of the heart.

Carpet cleaner: One exposure to Formula 409 rug cleaner causing cancer is close to zero.  Cumulative effects of that plus other toxins in the environment do raise the risk of disease.  Try to avoid chemicals as much as possible by reading labels.  They are even in beauty products.  Peace and good health.

: If you quit now, completely, in about 10 years you will be at your background risk.
You can reduce your risk of cancer by adopting healthy habits: Eat a mostly vegetarian diet, avoid alcohol, tobacco and street drugs, avoid excessive exposure  to sun, get HPV vaccine, exercise 30 minutes each day, drink enough water so your urine is mostly colorless.

Yes: PFT isn't a screening test for lung cancer, cough is a common symptom of bronchitis caused by tobacco smoking. If lung cancer is suspected, imaging studies as routine chest x-ray or probably high resolution C T scan of chest would be the way to go, but after doctor's evaluation, best wishes
