A member asked:

I've smoked for around 7 years not every single day but every 2-3 days. around 1-8 cigarettes on the particular day. i'm 30 now. if i quit absolutely forever. what are many chances of dying from lung cancer / smoking related disease?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

If you quit now, completely, in about 10 years you will be at your background risk. You can reduce your risk of cancer by adopting healthy habits: Eat a mostly vegetarian diet, avoid alcohol, tobacco and street drugs, avoid excessive exposure to sun, get HPV vaccine, exercise 30 minutes each day, drink enough water so your urine is mostly colorless. Wish you good health!
