Yes: PFT isn't a screening test for lung cancer, cough is a common symptom of bronchitis caused by tobacco smoking. If lung cancer is suspected, imaging studies as routine chest x-ray or probably high resolution C T scan of chest would be the way to go, but after doctor's evaluation, best wishes
