May be: If the hospital is large and has their own thyroid pathologist, then it is less than two weeks. If your endocrinologist or hospital send it to mayo clinic or other special lab. Then it can take up to two weeks.

Prob benign: Most common nodules at ge junction are benign (not cancer or malignant) inflammatory nodules usually from chronic gastroesophageal reflux. Given your age this is far and away most likely cause. Cancer at ge junction can present as a nodule so biopsy is prudent.

37  asain female.  born outside of usa.  always tb test positive.  2009 chest x-ray is clear. 09/2012 x-ray show 4mm nodule.  how concern should i be?

Concerned: A new pulmonary nodule is concerning.
Probably not TB since skin test has been positive and "clear" chest x-ray in 2009.
See pulmonologist  for workup.

heavy stomack , no period for4 months but negative pregnancy tests and u/s shows hypoechoic nodule. medroprogesterone don't worked. can i be pregnant?

Yes: If you did not have a period after using Medroxyprogesterone oral pills it is usually due to pregnancy, low estrogen levels, or an anatomic anomaly blocking the menstrual flow (possibly that "nodule").

Probably benign : A small lung nodule with a central calcification is typically a benign nodule from an old infection (usually histoplasmosis). If worried, follow up of the nodule can be done to establish stability.

thyroid nodule at 3.4 x 4.7 x 2.3cm.  blood tests confirm all is normal.  ultrasound shows heterogeneous iso/small area hypechoic.  chances of cancer?

Yes, some: You need to see an endocrinologist.. Who would likely do a fine needle aspiration(fna) biopsy. Thyroid cancer needs to be ruled out by further testing. It has to be a consideration in your case. But thyroid cancer is easily treatable and highly curable(>95%).

if you tested positive on tb skin test when i was pregnant over 25 yrs ago would that cause fluid filled nodule and or enlarged lymphnodes n chest? i was told at the time i will always show positive and all crags have come bk normal until ct scan about 8

Could be TB: If you had a positive TB test and never got preventive treatment , you could have progression to active disease now. Of course there are other possible causes. You shouldhave sputum tested for TB first either by coughing up phlegm if you can, or bronchoscopy if you aren't producing material.

Chest CT scan: To search for a lung nodule, chest ct scan is more accurate than a chest xray.  To see if a nodule is cancerous, depending on the size and location in the lung (i.E not dangerously close to the heart or aorta), a ct guided needle biopsy can be performed or a pet/ct scan can be performed.

Could be, but ...: Usually the bad ones are larger and solid.  The definitive test is always a biopsy.  An U/S finding is just suggestive or not.  Discuss the results with your doc and the ultrasonographer.  Good luck and best wishes!

why would a doctor take a biopsy of my nodule rather than remove it?

Need more info: Where is the nodule? How big is it? Skin nodules are usually removed in entirety, however, nodules in the thyroid, breast etc may be biopsied.
