UTI: Drinking non-alcoholic fluids of any type can help a urinary infection, but only antibiotics will cure a uti.  Your doctor is the best person to discuss this.  After a urine test, and the test shows infection, it is common to receive an antibiotic.

Pro- & anti-biotics: Women w/recurrent uti's have been found to have altered flora w/ reduced lactobacillus sp and prolonged colonizn with uropathogens like e.Coli. Oral or intravaginal  l. Rhamnosus gr-1;  l. Reuteri (fermentum) rc-14, & l. Crispatus prevent adherance of pathogenic bacteria and reduce the incidence (not 100%) of recurrent uti's.  If you plan to use probiotics, read the labels and look for these.

Clinic: If the pain is severe, it may not be simply a UTI but rather a kidney stone. If the Pyridium (phenazopyridine) is not working, try ibuprofen. If that still doesn't help and it can't wait until the morning when you see your doctor, you may want to go to an urgent care or walk-in clinic in your area for evaluation and possible narcotic pain medication.

So if usual antibiotics aren't getting rid of symptoms, get urine culture & test for std/sti.
