: There are a limited number of cases where surgical removal of a seizure triggering focus in the brain can help.  However, the removal itself can create another seizure focus. Each case must be assessed as an individual one and treatment tailored to that case. Surgical treatment is often one of the last resorts after other methods have failed. It is not a preventive therapy.

what to do if i have epilepsy that is 100% controlled with medication and a recent surgery, will this prevent me from becoming a helicopter pilot?

Could be a problem: You see, federal aviation rules do prohibit use of an aircraft if the pilot has epilepsy, and this even applies in the case of driving oil tankers professionally.  There are a few exceptions, and it would not hurt to enquire about this.

No.: Keppra is metabolized by the kidneys, whereas yasmin (drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol) (and most oral contraceptive pills) are metabolized by the liver. Keppra is one of the best choices for seizure treatment in anyone taking other medications because it has a lower likelihood of drug interactions.

Keppra (levetiracetam) : Keppra (levetiracetam) is a modern seizure drug that absorbs pretty quickly (1 hour in ideal scientific tests). 3 days of diarrhea can be stressful on your system, including causing changes in blood chemistry and causing lost sleep, and this stress can also make it more likely to have a seizure.  A visit to your primary care doctor can help diagnose and fix the cause of the diarrhea, and could also offer a chance to check the level of Keppra (levetiracetam) in your blood.

Yes: It depends on what type of seizures you usually have, but theoretically if you are extremely exhausted suddenly, when before you werent, and you are on the same dose of meds, you could be having silent seizures that are causing you to be tired afterwards.  That is called post ictal somnolence.

im 20 with myoclonic epilepsy and pnes. ive been having episodes that result in false memories. during episodes time stops, my vision flickers, i see things, like people who werent there. is it possible for either condition to cause this?

: Your epilepsy may be more than just Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy and could have evolved into episodes of Complex Partial Seizures.  Since there are now multiple choices for anti-epileptic drugs, would suggest you discuss these symptoms with your neurologist and modify your medications.  Satisfactory control can readily be achieved.  Be proactive.

im confused! my neuro says it would be best to redo my 24 hour eeg (since i didnt sleep) even though i had 2 of my deja vu episodes on recording and the result of the eeg was normal? i thought this would rule out epilepsy causing my events then?
