3.5 years: 3.5 years is the median survival in studies that look at groups of people with angiosarcoma.  However, each person with angiosarcoma may do much better or much worse.  It depends on where the tumor started, the stage of the tumor at diagnosis, and the age and general health of the person.  Sadly, it is a very aggressive type of cancer.

Prognosis is poor.: Angiosarcomas are very rare and aggressive cancers that spread early.  70% of patients die within 5 years of diagnosis. The tumors are made out of newly-formed blood vessels and stimulated to grow by vegf.  New biologic therapies, called monoclonal antibodies, are being developed to target these cancerous blood vessels.  Not much is know about these tumors due to their rarity.

Many  occur in retroperitoneal region and choosing right vessel to do study is important and assuring lesion has minimal vascularity.They are found in  diverse sites such as skin, breast and liver.

Blood vessel tumor: A primary angiosarcoma is a rare lesion  of blood vessel origin unrelated to  the classic ductal or lobular carcinomas.  It is aggressive and can be lethal requiring simple mastectomy.  It frequently arises secondary to previous radiation  of the breast and belongs to  the Stewart Treves group of tumors secondary to lymphedema.

Wide resection: Primary  angiosarcomas of the breast are very rare.  They also behave as sarcomas do without spread to axilla as the ductal lesions are seen to do.  Most have initiated as a result of radiation therapy to the breast region with the effect of the RT inducing the sarcoma.  Distant mets to lung and bone have been reported suggesting that the primary must be removed completely.
