Orthopedic : If you have scoliosis you should see an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in spine( did an 'extra' year in a spine fellowship).... Or a pediatric orthopedist who specilises in spine/ scoliosis surgery .At age 18 your ' curve' should not be progressing but may be painful or unsightly. See spine specialist( above). Best of Luck!

Scoliosis: Do you really want the cheapest? I wouldn't want the lowest bidder for everything i do. The most appropriate care is, by nature, cost effective. Start with your primary, and the either a physiatrist, ortho spine or neurosurgeon would be appropriate.

Harrington: In the early 1980's the harrington rod was still the most system to corect scoliosis. Following that period the cotrel & dubousset or cd instrumentation  has been the most frequently used.  Also the luque instrumentation system is used in young children when needed.

Scoliosis: Scoliosis diagnosed later in life tends to be degenerative in nature, meaning essentially that it is caused by arthritis and breakdown of the intervertebral disk. She could also have adult idiopathic scoliosis, meaning that it started when she was younger but has started to get worse as she has gotten older. Most cases of scoliosis in adults fall into these two categories.

It could be that: you're just worrying more about it because your doctor put you on the lookout.  If it doesn't resolve in a couple weeks, go see your doctor for your peace of mind.

A Gastroenterologist: specializes ini GI disorders.  Start w/family doc who may refer you.  GI disorders are often associated w/psychological issues or medical conditions.  Consider a clinical psychologist for anxiety management.  Peace and good health.
