how long can i wait to get evaluation or treatment for a retinal tear?

You can't: If you have a retinal tear, it should be evaluated immediately.  Once it progresses to a detachment, the treatment becomes much more complicated and the chance of permanent vision loss greatly increases.

Bumps Can Improve: Bumps may get better after some time and firm massage/pressure.  The bluish discoloration may remain and need hyaluronidase.

Can be managed: Dry eye is part of the evolution of the eye as one ages.  Management is multi-pronged and usually is successful.   While cure is unlikely, the bodily chemistry does evolve and many cases of eye dryness will spontaneously go away.  But that takes a long time and good management, with a lot of work on your part, will make everything improve.

i was on tobradex and am done with the course of treatment. my eye is better but still red. can i expect continued improvement if i continue lid scrubs and otc tears or should i use another medication? i called my doc and am waiting for call back?

: It takes time for your eyes completely normal. You do not need another drop but you should follow your ophthalmologist's advice what to avoid.

Continue follow up:  If you had a dilated exam which didn't reveal any new tears or suspcious holes in the retina, then continue regular follow up. If you experience any flashing lights, new floaters, dark veil coming over your vision, then see an eye doctor urgently. These could be signs of a retinal detachment. The laser reduces your risk of detachments but does not eliminate it. Be well.

is omega 3 supplement or cod liver oil good for dry eye treatment?  if so which is better and how much? i eat salmon but only once or twice a month - not enough. eyes are very dry from ac and being indoors. using systane and thera tears.

Dry eyes: I recommend omega 3 supplements, 4-6 capsules daily. When you eat fish, stick to the small oily fish like sardines because they are higher in omega 3 and have less mercury.

Other times they can be from traction within the eye or sometimes from external pressure outside of the eye. An examination either by a retinal specialist or ophthalmologist can give your expected prognosis and treatment options.

Depends: I am guessing that you have seen a retinal specialist since they are the most likely ones to diagnose fluid under the retina.  Hopefully you are not seeing an optometrist as they cannot deal with a problem like this.  Fluid under the retina will alter the vision and lead to possible permanent vision loss.  You should seek out a retinal specialist as soon as possible.

Depends on cause.: Blood draining behind the retina is actually  blood accumulating behind the retina. The medical term is subretinal hemorrhage. The treatment depends on the cause and amount. If it is due to trauma and central, affecting the vision, it can either be observed for clearing or surgically removed. If due to macular degeneration, it can be treated by intraocular injections. There are other causes.
