Depends on the seat: To the safety tech the term car seat can apply to any safety appliance.There are newer 5point harness seat systems that are designed to fit forward facing (2-3yr+) up to 65-85 lb.These systems offer greater protection for kids in side impact & roll overs. Belt positioning boosters are available to  40-110 lb & satey first offers speciaty seats for larger kids. All below 4'7'' need a safety seat.

Doubt it: SBS is a process generated by significant repetitive force where the trunk is held firmly and the infants head flipped back &amp; forth. The degree of head movement is something the process you describe does not replicate.

Rear facing till 2yr: Current recommendations are until 2yrs of age . there may be state specific laws that your local highway patrol barracks may be able to inform you of.

Kids change from a rear facing 5 point system to a forward facing no sooner than age 2 yrs.The best forward facing systems include a 5 point restraint which are available up to 60-80 lbs.Boosters are then used until 57" tall

: The general rule is those that do not come with the seat are not. The seats must conform to standards/testing before they are sold. All add on products are not regulated. Many advertise that they conform to all "rules" but since none apply it is a farce. I would have a certified child passenger seat technician evaluate them. I believe Safe Kids.org  keeps a list of available techs.

i have a wide subtle lump on my back and it hurts really bad to walk, use arms to get out the bed, cant rest my back against my car seat!! it is very painful without even touching it. is lump infected inside skin?

: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. However, what you described warrants attention and treatment at the earliest. If you do not have access to a doctor, go to the ER of nearest hospital.. Wish you good health!

: Many children get frequent head colds until they develop immunity to many of the 100 types of viruses that cause them. Associating with other kids is a factor. I find that excessively dry environment increases susceptibility. I believe in giving Vit C supplements to aid resistance. I think her easy car sickness isn't related or pathological. Have her checkups &amp; basic labs been OK?

Have it checked: Many towns have car seat checks offered by local safety officials or at the local police station. Your car seat needs to fit very securely into your car, it should be very hard to move it once it's installed. It must be properly installed to fully protect the baby.
