It is an abnormal fast heart beat, generally over 180, up to as high as 220-240. Preventive and therapeutic treatment is available for use during pregnancy.

Two different issues: Svt is a common usually "solitary " form of short circuit that can happen at any age, often in women .There several forms of svt . Now afib is a different can of worms - this is a more complex arrhythmia that may be related to structural heart abnormalities or endocrine problems . There are patients that need blood thinners. Patients can have both but it's not common. Definitely visit your doc.

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is typically a genetic disease and some cohorts have increased prevalence of svt and wpw. Trigger Foods: Svt or supraventricular tachycardia is a rapid heart rhythm.  Some foods such as caffeine and chocolate can aggravate the dysrhythmia.  Allergies to certain foods can increase Adrenalin in your body and predispose to svt.  Over the counter medicine such as pseudophed will also tend to exacerbate the rhythm disturbance.

If you have repeated bursts or frequent symptomatic PAC's your cardiologist may consider treating you with beta blockers. Thyroid OK? EKG and echocardiogram normal?  Take any stimulants?  Avoid alcohol and excess caffeine. Avoid stress and get good sleep.
