Leaking spinal fluid: Leaking spinal fluid is always a serious matter, regardless if it is coming from the ear or elsewhere. The fluid is thin a straw-colored and usually clear (unless there is an infection). The cause of the leak needs to be addressed immediately, because it is always dangerous.

Difficult question: Not exactly sure of the history, but it seems that you are saying that you hear a thump in the ear when you bend or push. There was a 2 month history of headache and spinal tap. This is unusual and is not the typical symptom of CSF leak. That is usually headaches when you stand up with improvement when you lay down. There are some special MRI studies that can check for CSF hypotension.

Why CSF Leak?: Why do you think you might have a CSF leak?  Have you hit your head?  If you have a reason to think that you have a CSF leak, the first thing to determine is if that is true or not with a CT or MRI. If you have no reason, then allergic rhinitis is more likely, and try an antihistamine and reducing environmental irritants/allergens, like fragrances, smoke, dust, etc.  If that does not work see MD.

: You may have an infection in your ear, and your ENT would be ideal.  Seriously doubt you are experiencing CSF otorrhea, which would be colorless fluid unless you had bacterial meningitis (but if so, you would  be too ill to post)

Vague ?? but no: What kind of surgery are you referring to? With many neurosurgical procedures, CSF leak is a risk, especially if the CSF space itself was entered as a part of the operation. These leaks are not uncommon, sometimes even a normal part of healing, and usually resolve with proper treatment. I encourage you to review your concerns with your surgeon. Your surgeon is in the best position to help you.
