Perlane (dermal fillers): Perlane injections are very similar to juvederm or restylane (dermal fillers). They are injections used for several wrinkle corrections in the face and also can be used for lip enhancements. I prefer to use juvederm, but they all are basically the same chemical structure: hyalauronic acid. It is very safe if administered by a certified doctor. Make sure the office is on the website. Do not go to a dayspa!

Any : Any thing is possible if not injected properly, but highly unlikely. 
Make sure your doctor is experienced with injectibles. Ask to see before and afters. Also, ask to speak to previous patients. With hipaa, this may be difficult, but I have patients that are willing to endorse my work.

There : There is no real down time with fillers. A few precutions: since the material is pliable for several hours, you do not want to sleep on your face for a night; don't scratch area for rest of the day: and avoid prolong sun exposure for first few days or until redness disappears. With all injectibles, there is the possibilty of bruising.

is there a way to treat lumpy areas from perlane (dermal fillers) injections? i've read that fillers sometimes get lumpy after injection. if that happens to me, how can i fix it?

Lumpiness : Lumpiness is not a desired or usual outcome after injection with a filler. Nonetheless, hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved with another injection called vitrase or hyaluronidase. The preference is for avoidance of lumps with specific injection techniques.

Some : Some injectable fillers- like Perlane (dermal fillers) are available with a numbing medication mixed in. Topical Lidocaine on the skin will help alleviate the discomfort. After pre-treament, the injection of the filler feels more like pressure than pain.

It : It is worth the additional cost. Compared to it sibling, restylane, (dermal fillers) it lasts 6 months to a year longer. Medicis-the company that sells Restylane (dermal fillers) & perlane- say Restylane (dermal fillers) 6-12 months and Perlane 18 months.
I think it is the best product for naso-labial folds, marionette lines, and cheeks mostly because it last longer than juvederm and Restylane (dermal fillers) and it is reversible. Radiesse may last a little longer, but it is not reversible. God forbid your dr makes a mistake with radiesse, it has to be surgically removed. All the other short-term fillers can be dissolved with a simple injection.
