Low blood sugar: Hypoglycemia means low blood sugar.  It may be an isolated incident related to not enough food intake or a metabolic problem related to bad glucose metabolism.  Reactive hypoglycemia results when you eat sugar, your Insulin is released in  response and then drives the sugar too low.  This is the most common form.

Low blood sugar: Hypoglycemia is a scientific term for low blood sugar.  Anyone can get it. It is the result of your sugar metabolism mechanism being oversensitive to eating sugar in that it puts out a rush of minsulin in response and therefore the blood sugar is driven low.

No: In my 35 years of practice, I have never seen a case of reactive hypoglycemia.  The disorder doesn't exist, if you're overweight the symptoms are a natural response to your glucose level returning to normal. A glucose tolerance test (if you've had one) is not and never will be a valid diagnostic test for hypoglycemia. Don't waste your money o GTT or any fad diets of treatments. Lose wt if heavy.

No such thing: Hypoglycemia - nervousness, sweating, hunger, anxiety, blurred vision, fatigue, fast heart rate, etc.  -- however unless you have diabetes and are on Insulin or other medication, have renal or liver disease, cancer or prior stomach surgery -- then true hypoglycemia never occurs in human beings. If it a very frequently and incorrectly made diagnosis. Not silent, not real.

what is reactive hypoglycemia and can you get this from eating?

Yes: Reactive hypoglcemia is generally caused by eating foods which spike your blood sugar, causing an increase in Insulin levels.  The Insulin then takes the sugar out of your blood into the cells and causes a sudden drop in blood sugar.  Usually eating foods with a low glycemic index (simple carbohydrates, sweets) will cause this.  Eating protein or fat with your carbs will help prevent it.
