Not sure: Ketamine functions in the brain as a “dissociative anesthetic, ” where dissociative indicate a shutting off of the brain from the body rather than simply pain blocking.  Specifically, ketamine blocks the brain’s glutamate receptor, which when normally functioning accept glutamate increasing cell activity and brain function.  I have not seen any evidence of glutamate rebound, but will research.

Hangover: Hangover can be related to amount of alcohol consumed and amount of sleep. The more alcohol you consume, the more of a hangover.  Dehydration, blood vessel dilation, stomach irritation and acid production, drop in blood sugar, are a few of the reasons for hangover.  Avoid too much alcohol consumption to avoid hangovers.

It's possible: Alcohol is an NMDA receptor antagonist and benzodiazepines are GABA receptor modulators. Alcohol inhibits the effects of glutamate and Benzos enhance the effect of GABA; both meds cause inhibition of brain activity. When you stop either class of meds, you can experience glutamate rebound which leads to withdrawal symptoms such as seizures. Theoretically, this can cause neuron death.

Not known so...: Msg has not been shown to cause or adversely affect hypertension. It is a rather common food additve/sweetener and fortunately relatively safe, in moderation of course. If you have problem with hypertension, obviously you should consult doc for eval and treatment. It is not necessary that you advoid msg, but too much of anything is not good. Consult your doc.Good luck.
