In a perfect world: You would take Clindamycin every eight hours to optimal spread the medication out and keep sustained therapeutic levels in the blood with minimal highs and lows, but that's easier said than done.

Depends: The dosage range is 10-30 mg/kg/d which places this at the high end of recommended dosing. If the infection is a deep or severe one it might be the best choise,With a lesser infection I might go with half that dose.

First: was a culture of the throat/tonsils performed?  Were the antibiotics based on culture results?  Are you penicillin allergic?  The dose and duration of the antibiotic is irrelevant until you can answer these questions of get the answer from the prescriber and if they say "for a viral tonsillitis/pharyngitis" throw out the antibiotics and find a new doctor/provider....or whatever we are....

For acne?: If for acne, i advise patients to cleanse face prior. Apply Clindamycin gel in am with tretinoin at night to affected areas. Skin sensitivity may result with the treinoin and you may discontinue until improvements in sensitivity are seen. Clindamycin can be applied 2 times daily (am and pm).

Not good for UTI: Clindamycin is not normally used for urinary tract infections and will not work against most UTI bacteria. Check back with your doctor -- and don&#x27;t try to treat yourself with clindamycin or any other antibiotic you might have around.

Call your dentist: The infection may still be present, there may be a new infection, and either seems to be spreading. You may need a different antibiotic and/or drainage of the abscess. Please call now.

Abcessed tooth: The clindamycin will not cure the abcess.  It is only used to help control the infection. You will need a root canal, or have the tooth extracted.
If the swelling is increasing, you need to see your dentist or an oral surgeon ASAP.

my dr prescribed clindamycin oral 600mg/6h for 30 days to treat recurring boils, isnt this too much? i have diarrhea with 1 day on this med.

Maybe..: It does sound like a lot but I don't know the full scope of your case. I see that you have a history of skin abscesses which may be why your doctor put you on a long duration of antibiotics. If you are having diarrhea, talk to your doctor - he can probably switch to something else. Also I would take probiotics with it!! BE well!
