im allergic to the otc for lice. so i sat down and smothered my head in conditioner and had 2 people start picking through my hair. with a lice comb. this is my first time having it. we got our actual lice and the nits/babies. will this method work?

Accepted Answer

: This can work if all of the lice and nits are removed. Would recommend keeping an eye out over the next week or 2 for live lice in case all were not removed. Then the process may need to be repeated. It is also important to clean bedding, towels, and hair coverings well.

both babies are head down at 24 weeks. i have a lot of pelvic pressure and cramping at times but cervix is long and closed. this is the first time theyve been head down. is my risk for pre-term labor increased now that theyre head down?

: Discuss your symptoms and findings with the Labor and Delivery nurse and your OB specialist. The dilatation of the cervix is one way to assess risk of delivery. Please follow up and stay positive.

Relative study: His rating means that 10% of infants at this age have a larger head circumference (size) while 90% are smaller.If the size has increased from 25-50-75-90% over several months it would suggest growth was too rapid.If usually in that range, it just means the kid has a big head.It hasn't bothered me any, except for having trouble finding a helmet/hat that would fit..

i am concerned about my babies flat head. she is 5 months. is it too late for it to correct itself?

No: You may want to try some simple efforts that get baby into a different head position. Babies that age will usually turn their head in the direction that a caretaker would come in to tend them. If you alternate head to foot placement so her head position alternates it will help. When she spends more time sitting up, the gravity pressure on her skull stops keeping it flat. It should self correct.

Plagiocephaly: You describe positional flattening that has become very common.  Back to sleep has left many children with flattening of back of the head that corrects over 6 to 9 months.  Helmet treatment may help early on, but normal brain growth will correct this over time.

went to docs and she said baby is in permanent head down position. and wont be flipping any more. how do babies end up bottom down then sometimes?

"Breech": A small number of babies will settle botton down in the birst canal (calledd "breech" deliveries. Usually these pregnancies are now handled by C Section!

Cysts: cysts this size warrant a consultation with a gynecologist.  While they may very well be benign tumors, cancer must be ruled out as well.

Too heavy: The head is heavy and little babies (0-4 months) do not yet have strong enough neck muscles to control it so it sort of falls to one side. Gets better by 4 months. Older babies often do things because they figured out they can.

Infant torticollis: Torticollis is a condition when babies are born with their head tilted to one side, caused by tight muscles in the neck. Sometimes people will feel a lump on one side of the neck. Your Pediatrician may instruct you in infant massage and stretches, or refer you to physical therapy (PT). The condition usually resolves by 3 months of age with the proper treatment.
