on a ct thorax what is dependent compressive atelectasis confirmed with prone and supine imaging?  dr said my scan was normal.

Atelectasis: Is less-well inflated lung. It can look like scarring or areas of pneumonia and commonly occurs in the lower lung areas when you are on your back. This was seen by your radiologist and when you were turned over and rescanned the lung inflated normally. Your doctor is correct that this is normal.

my father 56 year old had covid postive 10 days back and there was pneumonia in ct scan with score of 5/25, he is now covid negative, but on re scan of his thorax there is pneumonia. how much time it takes pneumonia to  recover?

Lots of things!: Your scan included the base of neck, chest, including lymph nodes, blood vessels, the heart, and lungs, and upper abdomen.  There is much to see but hopefully it will be ok.

had ct thorax neuro rang to tell me scan was fine but it picked up a lump in my breast he referred me to breast centre within a week for mammogram im 32 i cant feel a lump he said its behind my nipple on on outer side of breast should i be worried?

Calcification: if the chest tube was inserted in the that location, most likely it is the cause of that calcification, but close follow up with your pediatrician &amp; pulmonary specialist  to  make sure there is no other cause for it. Good luck.

No: Given your age and normal recent imaging, your chances of having a lung cancer are almost zero at this point. Also, only an advanced lung cancer in the "right" location could cause these symptoms.

CT: CT (Computed tomography) can examine any anatomical part of the body. It does use ionizing radiation to acquire imaging so typically only the necessary part of the body in question is imaged. So a CT chest would be performed separately from a CT of the brain. Indications would depend on your symptoms and what your doc is looking for. Always discuss your concerns with your doc and radiologist.

Many: The scan can find blood clots (pulmonary embolism), enlarged lymph nodes, fluid between the chest wall the the lung (pleural effusion), lung nodules, fluid between the heart and its enclosing sack (pericardial effusion), sometimes abnormalities of the esophagus (the swallowing tube) and liver and lastly hernias of the diaphragm. This is not all inclusive but covers most of the common abnormalities.
