A member asked:

On a ct thorax what is dependent compressive atelectasis confirmed with prone and supine imaging? dr said my scan was normal.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Atelectasis: Is less-well inflated lung. It can look like scarring or areas of pneumonia and commonly occurs in the lower lung areas when you are on your back. This was seen by your radiologist and when you were turned over and rescanned the lung inflated normally. Your doctor is correct that this is normal.
