A dentist can determine whether you have gum disease as a cause. If you have black bowel movements, bleeding from the upper digestible tract is likely.

Force: In general a sit up is considered what comes up at random. A vomiting episode is longer &amp; has force behind it. I have seen it push out debris several feet from an infant.

Need more info: If you smoke, stop.  Do you have sinus congestion?  Postnasal drip accumulating in back of throat may trigger this.  Do you have reflux esophagitis?  Is there some structural anatomic abnormality?Suggest you go and see a doctor and get evaluated.
