Blood: It's a blood presence after interaction with the stomach acid. It might happened from the acute gastrointestinal bleeding when blood vessels damaged while retching and vomiting. Your stool color might be black as well. I would suggest to visit your doctor or nearest er.

Blood in vomitus: The acid in the stomach turns the blood in the stomach black. It doesnt have to be alot of blood - but the discoloration is due to the mixture of blood and stomach acid. When you bleed from the lower intestinal tract, the blood is usually brighter red because there is no acid to convert the color of the blood below the duodenum.
