Blood clot problem: This problem occurs after chronic bloodclot that was not effectively treated. Chronic swelling occurs in the legs due to valve damage. Patients have to wear compression stockings to control the swelling.

May be permanent: Post thrombotic syndrome may be permanent but how much it affects you depends on the amount of damage done to the veins by the initial clot. Swelling is usually controlled by compression stockings,but if skin breakdown occurs you may need medication applied. If swelling is severe and chronic may need evaluation by a vein specialist as in some cases vein procedure may help.

Deficiency, usually acquired, of an enzyme that breaks down large multimers of von willebrand factor causes overactivation of platelets leading to intravascular microthrombi that affect the functions of the kidneys, brain, lungs and other organs.  It can be treated by transfusing normal donor plasma.

Platelet disorder.: Ttp is a blood disorder in which platelets form small clots. Formation of these clots uses up so many platelets that platelet count becomes low. The clots can get stuck in small blood vessels and cause damage to red blood cells, causing anemia. Other symptoms of ttp include fever, kidney failure, & neurologic problems. The biological cause of ttp is still uncertain.
