A member asked:

Im 28. how long does post thrombotic syndrome/venous stress disorder usually last? is it permanent? what percentage will have it permanent?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

May be permanent: Post thrombotic syndrome may be permanent but how much it affects you depends on the amount of damage done to the veins by the initial clot. Swelling is usually controlled by compression stockings, but if skin breakdown occurs you may need medication applied. If swelling is severe and chronic may need evaluation by a vein specialist as in some cases vein procedure may help.
