I : I have heard this term used with fetal ultrasounds - (pyelectasis) which means that there can be dilation of the central part of the kidney.  I will change this from unspecified specialty to diagostic radiologist, to get a better chance of getting exact info. I suggest that you ask your doctor what he specifically meant whe using the term "full kidney".

It is normal: For premenopausal females to have a small amount of simple, free fluid in the pelvis/adnexal area.  Free means that is it free floating and not contained in any structure such as an abscess.  Simple means that there are no " echogenic foci" within it which could represent blood or pus.

i have a small cyst under my arm, after a ultrasound the dr said it was as calcified sebaceous cyst and that i shouldn't worry. what does this mean?

Accepted Answer

Sebaceous cyst: arises from a clogged sebaceous gland(secretes an oily material that lubricates hair and skin).  Epidermoid inclusion cysts are more common and may look similar.  Both types of cysts are benign but can be removed if they are bothersome or inflamed.

Sounds like: the result one would see describing  a benign thyroid cyst, but since you didn't say what structure contained the cyst I can't be certain.  Doesn't address why there is swelling in your mom's neck.  Discuss with the physician ordering the ultrasound.

Accepted Answer

: Too small for ultrasound to "see".  These are very common and should most likely be ignored. Always include why the CT was done as this enables the viewer to focus on what to look at.

: US may miss that small cyst. It is not uncommon that a small, simple cyst is detected in one of your kidneys at your age. You have nothing to concern. Good luck!

: All laboratory/imaging results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, small renal cysts are very common and not a cause for concern.    Wish you good health!

Normal finding: That is a totally normal description for ovaries in a person who has periods/ is of child-bearing age.  The small follicles is good because it may indicate that your pcos is under control.

Could be egg to be: At age 44, you are close to being near the change of life (menopause), however if you are not on hormonal contraception the ovarian follicle development could be the next "egg out of the box."
