It : It sounds like the gum tissue is inflammed. Did you just have the temp place a day or two ago, or is it there for a while?

If not polished, it could be trapping food and bacteria.

There is a very slight chance you are allergic to the monomer in the acrylic. Call your dentist to have him take a look.

What is it?: We can guess over the internet but that won't help your ten month old. Have him seen by a Pediatric Dentist (Pedodontist) asap for an evaluation.

Dark Gums: It may be the natural color of your gums if you have a dark complection. More than likely it can be inflammation from gum disease.  If you haven't had a dental examination and a cleaning recently i suggest you schedule to get it checked.  A third possibility is that it is associated with some sort of pathology.  The only way to know is to have a thorough exam and diagnosis with your dentist.

Gum infection ?: Difficulty chewing on your molars could  be due to inflammation of the gums or under the tooth in the bone socket. This could also be associated with an infection. The color change in your gums to purple is not normal. It should be pink. Go to your dentist and get an evaluation before it worsens.

Well.....: I can answer only with assumption  that these purple spots are not a patologic entity/lesions... And they have been there for ever.. Which means they are normal pigmentation of the gingiva, and can be seen more in african american individuals, or some people with darker tone of skin. These normal pigmentations could be corrected with a procerdure called "gum bleaching" ; in different ways.

: At your age you should be very concerned about your oral health. See your dentist for a complete exam and treatment. If your gums   bleed and are swollen, than make every effort to start a healthy oral hygiene program now.

No emg unless trauma: Once a baby tooth is lost, it can taking several months or more for the permanent tooth to come in... It has been almost 6 months since my own son lost his front teeth, and permanent ones have not erupted yet... The purple appearance could be the adult tooth starting to find its way into the mouth... 2 weeks for a check is fine... If lost traumatically, then I would ask for an emergency appt asap
