If Female, preg test: If you are female & experiencing unexplained nausea, the 1st thing to do is check a pregnancy test. If that is negative ( or doesn't apply to you) there are a lot possibilities, including peptic ulcers, & you will need to see your dr for an evaluation.

i woke up this morning and vomitted what smelt like feces. after the initial vomit it was bile and dry heaving.  i'm not vomiting anymore but i do have a lot of cramping?

If worse go to ER: This is likely just a viral illness and the pains are cramping from vomiting.  The stool smell is worrysome but since its resolved a small bowel obstruction is less likely if you belly gets distended firm and or painful to the touch go to the ER I would expect you to feel much better in the morning if viral. If this continues tomorrow am get examined

GI distress: See your Physician, Urgent Care, or a Gastroenterologist.  May have, among other possible diagnosis, GERD, neurologic disorder, or other problem.  Do you smoke, consume alcohol on a regular basis?  You need a full evaluation.  Please go now.

i wake up every morning with waves up nausea, dry heaving, and excess phlegm in my throat. some mornings it's once or twice while others it's ongoing.

Could be: Post nasal  drip.  Drains at night.  Then in am body tries to mobilize it.  Cough. Vomit etc to get rid of it.    Call your doc.  Try some allergy meds may help.  Elevate head of bed.  All may help.   Increase water. May help this the secretions.

Many causes: Dry heaving has many causes, but usually due to irritation of the stomach or upper small intestine-like   alcohol, ulcers or infection, pancreatitis or gall bladder trouble. If there is any associated chest or arm pain, the heart or lungs can be the source- in which case you need to be seen right away

What causes nausea?: Nausea/vomiting may be gi-related (food poisoning, peptic disease, gastroparesis, due to biliary &amp; pancreatic disease, gas/bloat syndrome, small bowel problems. Consider "central" causes: motion sickness, vertigo, migraine headache, brain problems (some very serious). Also, rule out infection (? Urinary tract), medication side effects, pregnancy, &amp; even reaction to stress. See your doctor please.

have an issue with gagging and dry heaving.  constantly have to chew a mint to keep the sensation controlled.  any idea on the cause?

See MD: Pregnant?  Always to be considered, if you have been having sex. May have inflammation of stomach, ulcer, inflammation of esophagus, reflux of stomach content into esophagus. This is aggravated by mints, coffee, alcohol, some meds, fatty foods, and other factors. Could be another cause. Need to see md, get examined.

Unusual to gag: You are otherwise healthy female 26 years old.  You have daily gagging and nausea.  It is unusual.  Most common would be pregnancy or acute viral illness or allergy.  Would repeat pregnancy test. If negative you can try allergy medicine like Claritin or benadryl (diphenhydramine).  Try for a week.  If you choose Benadryl (diphenhydramine) then no driving or heavy machinery.

if my stomach is completely empty when stomach virus attacks will that mean that i wont vomit as long as i dont eat or can it cause dry heaving?

Gastroenteritis: Gastroenteritis is usually caused by viral infection. It can cause nausea, vomiting, and dry heaving, in addition to other symptoms like abdominal pain had fevers. It is usually self-limited and will usually improve in one to three days. Be sure to drink lots of liquids to stay hydrated. Good luck.
