Maybe: Much of cradle cap is due to retained skin flakes that are not susceptible to the mild ingredients in "tear free" baby shampoos. Active washing with a simple dandruff shampoo will often do the trick, as well as avoiding baby oil on the scalp or other treatments.A soft cuticle brush to help scrub in the shampoo helps, but keep it away from the eyes.

Gentle removal: Gently remove scales with a baby comb. Avoid rubbing or irritating the area.  Shampoo with a gentle baby shampoo and please see your pediatrician for additional treatment as indicated. Usually with these measures, cradle cap will improve.

Baby oil: Apply baby oil to scalp 1/2 hour prior to shampooing and then shampoo and rinse. The scales should loosen and then use a soft brush to brush out the scales. Doing this for a few days should help. Depending on the age of the person, a dandruff shampoo might be used (not for a baby). If not improving, please see your doctor (or your child’s doctor).

Comb: Gently use a comb to loosen the scales. Avoid rubbing or irritation. Use a gentle soap to clean the scalp or another baby shampoo. Avoid products with fragrance. Please follow up with your pediatrician.

Seborrhea: Seborrheic dermatitis is not curable but is easily managed by a variety of treatments, starting with common dandruff shampoo. An sntifungal may also be helpful. Hydrocortisone should not be the sole treatment.
