None: There are no risks unless they come very close to a powerful magnet which I do not think happens while you're riding a roller coaster.  Even if you did however, nothing bad will happen and as soon as you walk away from the magnet, things go back to normal.

That depends: The pacemaker itself is not a problem. However, riding a roller coaster can be stressful to some. (such as me!). If you also have coronary artery disease, the stress could provoke chest pain so that the roller coaster ride can be just as dangerous as any other stressful activity.

: Pacemaker batteries are lasting up to 10 years and more and they are checked at least once a year. Replacing the battery is a minimally surgical procedure. There might be misunderstanding about what the pacemaker does, talk to the cardiologist about what the pacemaker can and cannot do.

Falls: Depending on his metabolism and general health, my concerns would be less about the pacemaker & more about falls. As he gets up to urinate in the night he may be more likely to fall, break a hip & end up with greater problems.

Need more history: The most common reason for a pacemaker is a heartbeat that slows to an unhealthy rate. A pacemaker resets the heart rate to an appropriate pace, ensuring adequate blood and oxygen are delivered to the brain and other parts of the body.  It's not uncommon for both diabetics and women in their 50's and 60's to require pacemakers.  In fact, they may have many years of benefit from a pacemaker ahead.

No: I would not refer to it as surgery, more like a simple procedure.  Very small incision is made by somebody who has done this 100 if not thousands of times.

Accepted Answer

Training: Pacemakers are inserted by thoracic and cardiothoracic surgeons.   After medical school there is a 5 year surgical residency and 3-5 year fellowship.   In emergent situations emergency medicine, cardiology and critical care physicians/intensivists  are trained to place "temporary" pacemakers.

Pacemaker : Pacemaker is minor surgery.  Recovery time is one day in hospital and a few days at home.  It is not major at all.

In general no:  you need to discuss this with your physician. There are a variety of chiropractic therapies, but there are some that I'm concerned about that have electrical impulses. I always advise patients caution with chiropractic to be sure there are certain conditions they have that could cause problems that could make It worse or be major danger. Again this is something specific to your health

can someone have rotator cuff surgery if they have a pacemaker? the surgery would be where the pacemaker in implanted? please help

Accepted Answer

Yes: Pacemakers are located more medial and more superficial than the rotator cuff. It would be very unlikely that will present any problem to the surgeon. Let him know you have a pacemaker. 
You also need to find out from your cardiologist if you are pacemaker "dependent" because if you are, there are a couple of precautions to be taken.
