Migraine: Mostly likely this is a visual or occipital migraine.  If you cover each eye in turn when this happens you will see that this is in 1/2 of the left side of the vision from either eye.  These usually last 5-60 miinutes, have no aura and rarely an associated headaches.  They are benign, have no identifiable cause and  don't leave any damage when they fade out.

hello! i get migraines about every month -2. today when i woke up i noticed i had a spot in my vision only in my left eye. my head also feels foggy. my visual aura usually last 5 min then gone. this is lasting all day. can visual auras last this long?

: Visual auras are typically about 5-15 minutes in duration and afflict both eyes.  Rarely a localized stroke can occur.  But if focal and persistent, this would suggest an ocular issue.  The safest course is to be seen at an Urgent Care Center or an ER ASAP.

Common problem: Many will observe some degree of floating objects in the visual space which represent membrane fragments and opacities in the vitreous cavity in the back of the eye. These are usually benign, especially at your age, and there is no treatment.  You will learn to ignore and compensate for yours.

i have noticed this last few weeks, on going to bed and turning the light off, if i open my eyes i see a black blob in my left eye vision, but if i blink a few times it will disappear. i do not have this problem in day light?

Retinal detachment: It is likely you have a detached retina.  You should see an ophthalmologist as soon as possible.

Corneal pain: Sharp, brief spells of eye pain are most likely due to eye dryness or a recurrent erosion, which is a wound on the surface of the eye that reopens after a poorly healed scratch. If your pain is accompanied by redness, light sensitivity or prolonged blurring, you should see an ophthalmologist.

can i get the vision in my left eye up to par with my right eye by keeping my right eye covered with a patch, forcing my left eye to do more work?

Patching : Patching the better visioned eye does improve visual acuity in children particularly when they are 9 yo or less in age. Even to some degree patching up to 17 yo can help, but less effective. I didn't get your age, but if you are an adult, the benefits of patching will not likely have a positive impact. You should see an Eye MD if you are concerned about your vision. All you may need is glasses.

Migraine?: This could be a migraine or a sinus headache, but you should see your doctor for a good exam.

Eye doctor!: You should see an optometrist or ophthalmologist for diagnosis and treatment. You may need glasses or contacts, or it could be something entirely unrelated. But if blurry vision is your only symptom, see an expert eye doctor! optometrists (od degree) diagnose and refract; ophthalmologists (md degree) do these also but also do many more things related to the eye, including surgery.
