Heart: I think you need to see the physician who ordered the tests to decide what additional tests are required to make a definitive diagnosis

Q: is a stress test or heart catheterization worse to have for someone that has chf?

CHF : Either test should be performed under medical supervision once the heart failure is stabilized. The route would depend on more clinical information.

Q: does biotin consumption of about 30mcg 24 hours prior to lab tests (nt-pro bnp, troponin, d-dimer, cratine kinase ) affect the results ? particularly for nt pro bnp if trying to rule out chf?

: 30 micrograms is not a large enough dose to affect the results of lab tests.

Q: went to er short of breath & leg edema. test showed bpn 331 & d dimer quant 0.67 & normal sngm for clot in legs. 1st dr said no chf & 2nd said yes? y

Maybe: Bnp of 331 is considered 'borderline' and can be due to right or left heart failure; and may or may not be chf. Clots neg is a good thing. Edema has scores of causes.

Q: is coq10 (ubiquinol 50 mg) safe for chf/ckd patient? was on statin, discontinued 6 months ago due to neuropathic issues, myoglobin in urine, but muscle loss persist. what is a good test for cariomyopathy and which specialist treats myog/muscle loss?

Myopathy: The myoglobin and muscle loss probably not from the cardiomyopathy, it could be from skeletal muscle, consider consulting with a Neurologist.

Q: is ct cardiac calcium scan accurate in diagnosing mild ectatic ascending aorta? have fam. history of heart disease (father died at 46 with chf) and slight heart murmur. should i have other tests done

Ectasia: The ectasia is likely. You need good BP control, lipid control, not smoking, cholesterol control in any case and that's all you can do about the ectasia anyway.

Need more info: Lasix (furosemide) doesn't cause anemia-there is another cause. To know the cause of CHF, must know condition of the valves, diastolic function (determined by echo) and whether there is evidence of ischemia (determined by stress testing and/or heart cath). Need more information!

Q: dyspnea and edema in legs for 9 months. no smoking, had lung function test with and without bronc. 100% normal. spitting up phlegm 2-3 times a day, ct with contrast and x-ray shows no pulmonary edema. no chf. echo normal any ideas? i hate this?

: Another cause of fluid retention can come from kidney malfunction. Have your Dr's looked at your kidney function? It is possible with reduced kidney function that fluid is retained and causes shortness of breath, as well as edema in legs. Make sure you go back to your Dr and ask "what next?". Since you do not yet have a diagnosis, and they have ruled out heart problems, you need additional testing
