Best taken separate: Amino acids compete for absorption with one another. Thus, if you take them at the same time as whey protein they will be somewhat less well-absorbed than if taken separately. I would advise taking them at least one hour apart from each other, but it probably doesn't matter which you take first. I advise whey from grass-fed cows processed at low temperature for maximum benefit.

I will try: A protein has a complex twisted and folded shape that is dependent on the interactions of amino acids that can be far from the amino acid change. Some amino acids are charged (positive or negative) and some are not. Charged amino acids can repel or attract.

Neither.: It is a nitrogen rich plastic frequently added to food products to artificially boost protein assays because of its nitrogen content. Avoid! the chinese infant formulas and pet foods have had scandals in the past for putting this in said material! it is toxic! can cause a myriad of problems, particularly renal problems!

Technically: Proteins are built from amino acids, so effectively an 'amino acid' supplement or shake is digested somehow from protein source - or manufactured from precursor.  Protein shake will contain various sources, usually from food, but not always of proteins.  What would be best for you depends on many different issues.  Discuss with nutritionist.

Maintaining muscles does require more daily energy, so to the extent that muscle mass ; strength significantly increase, this might assist reduction in body fat.
