Hi: treat with H2 blocker like Pepcid or PPI - like Prilosec, Prevacid (lansoprazole) and avoid NSAIDs, high caffeine etc.

Well: Gastritis is usually painful or uncomfortable. Don't know what the cause is or if there is concurrent disease or complications. If it has not been evaluated recently - would recommend that. Take care.

Yes: Gastritis is a disease of habits.  It is important to talk to your physician or Gastroenterologist to find out what habits you need to change.  Common triggers are:  tobacco, alcohol, soda, coffee, tomato based foods, NSAIDs (Ibuprofen, Naprosyn), skipping meals, and chocolate.  If any of these are things you do every day, stop doing them and you will feel better!

Medicines will help: Gastritis is an inflammation of the stomach.  It can be treated with several different medicines, so that by itself isn't so bad.   Blood tests or other tests will further define what's going on. There could be something in your diet that is causing your problem, so that is worth evaluating also

Have her see doctor: Just make sure w/a doctor's exam. Make sure you go w/her & tell the doc your concerns. Otherwise, she may go in to the exam & tell the doc everything is ok. If nothing is wrong, you might try giving her some of her favorite foods.

i was given haloperidol medicines for 2 months thrice a day 0.25 mg. i had gastritis. now just left medicines for about 10 days. feeling dull and hopeless?

Psychiatrist: It's important that a psychiatrist be involved in your care as he/she is an expert in using haldol (haloperidol) and managing your symptoms. It is very inadvisable to discontinue this type of medication on your own as it's mandatory that you be under supervision by the psychiatrist for proper care. Discuss possible side effects with your psychiatrist and don't make medication changes on your own.

Gastritis: Yes, dark stool really does look "black".  This may sometimes be indicative of bleeding from a GI source such as the stomach.

i just had an endoscopy and they told me i had "bile gastritis". is this the same as gastritis? what to do about it?

Bile gastritis: Bile gastritis is alkaline, while regular gastritis is acidic.  Some doctors will tell you to drink orange juice or something else with some acidity.  Also questran, (cholestyramine) a bile acid binder, can be helpful.

i was prescribed dexilant (dexlansoprazole) 60 mg for 8 weeks to heal my gastritis. should i be concerned about anything? electrolyte abnormalities?

Not a concern: Generally speaking Dexilant (dexlansoprazole) for a short course of treatment should not cause electrolyte imbalance or any other problems. This medication blocks the acid production in your stomach. Acid is actually an important factor in digestion. So long term use, beyond 6-8 weeks should be monitored a bit more closely. It can reduce some vitamin levels and may affect long term bone density.

i have gastritis. i learned that gastritis can be autoimmune but after endoscopic biopsy my doctor didnt say anything about autoimmune gastritis, he said very common gastritis. the problem is im concerned its autoimmune because it wont go away..?

Gastritis: Autoimmune gastritis is rare. If it's not going away the question would be  how long have been treated for it and what treatment are you receiving. Medications may need to be adjusted. Follow up with a gastroenterologist.
