Swelling: Intermittent swelling of the testicle could be related to a hernia or hydroelectric ( fluid around the testicle). You should be examined when the swelling occurs and an ultrasound could help in elucidating the cause.

Cyproterone acetate: Cyproterone acetate certainly can cause elevated liver tests, but it usually occurs when taking higher doses, such as 50 to 100 mg per day. I would not change your dosage on your own, but I would speak with your urologist and probably consult a gastroenterologist to evaluate your liver. If your urologist thinks you can reduce or stop it, it would be a good idea until you are evaluated. Good luck.

doctor prescribed cyproheptadine in conjunction with my lexapro (escitalopram) for migraines. will i be okay to take these both at bedtime? 4mg cypro, 10mg lex.

Cyproheptadine: Periactin does interact with Lexapro (escitalopram) and may decrease the efficacy of Lexapro (escitalopram) when taken together. Perhaps a different antihistamine might be be better option - such as Allegra.  Hope that helps!

No: 'cypro' (cyproheptadine) is a drug that blocks the receptors for histamine and serotonin. It is commonly used to treat allergies. It does not have any activity against the organism that causes chlamydia. You may be confusing it with 'cipro' (ciprofloxacin), which is an antibiotic. Cipro does have some effect on chlamydia, though other antibiotics are used to treat it most often.

Ultrasound: While blunt trauma to the scrotum often causes testis or epididymis swelling, it is not a common etiology of infectious orchitis.  I don't disagree with the rx for antibiotics but i would definitely want to see a doppler scrotal ultrasound to make certain you didn't suffer a testis fracture or hemorrhage. Otherwise it likely will take several weeks for the swelling and discomfort to subside.

husband on cypro for prostatitis and uti.  takes 75mg aspirin.  can he take difene  for the prostate inflamation and what dose is safe. thanks.

Difene can interact: with Cipro to cause central nervous system (Brain) disorders. It would be better to avoid the combination. Add Acetominophen instead as directed on the bottle if the pain is too bad.
