hi, i'm 55 yrs old. my doctor is treating me for otitis media. this episode is the 3rd. i noticed a lump in the neck. i'm worried! what do i have?

Possibly............: Without examining you, it is difficult to know what this lump is, but i suspect that it is a swollen lymph node which has (properly) reacted to the infection. To be certain, your physician should evaluate this.

i have two lumps on the back of my neck what could they be. they are about a finger length apart. they don't hurt but they are hard.?

Can't tell here: Get examined, could be simply part of your spine (especially if in midline), could be other things, including lymph nodes-that's a different story. Need to be examined to determine what is what.

Lumps: Wonder if you have cysts?  If it is huge and painful it may be infected. Wonder also about abscess.  Bottom line is that it may need incision and drainage.

Yes: Localized infections sometimes have associated lymph node enlargement.

i have a small lump om the at the top inner of my thigh. it is  sore to touch and it feels like a little ball under my skin, help???

Boil? lymph node?: The lump in that area could be the starting of an abscess especially since it is sore to touch. It can get bigger and then become an abscess which may require an incision &amp; drainage. if u get yourself checked ASAP then if it is required an antibiotic can be started and no more may need to be done. The doctor also will make sure there are no lesions or infections in the drainage area as a cause.

Get examined: Impossible to diagnose a palpable finding on an exam without haveing the examination reproduced. Please go see s trusted doctor to look into your ear as well for the results and treatment

Yes: Did you have a sore throat along with the swollen lymph nodes? The swollen nodes could be the cause of the pain.

Neck lump: It could be a cyst or a lipoma.  Good news is, most things that are there for many years and don't cause problem in that time usually don't ever cause problems.  But it's good to get it checked out.  Other than xray, your doctor might suggest further imaging (MRI) and/or a biopsy to know for sure.

my mom has a lump on the back on her neck that started off hard & painless. after a 2 weeks it's mushy & red. no itching, but feels sore. what is it?

Accepted Answer

Cyst or abscess: Apply warm compresses to it 4-6 times daily and possibly it will drain.  If not, should be seen for drainage.  Good luck to her.
