Wellbutrin (bupropion) omset: Wellbutrin (bupropion) needs to be taken every day for 2 to 4 weeks before depressive symptoms begin to resolve. Some respond sooner however. Well butrin does not work by taking it as needed.

been on wellbutrin (bupropion) for 6mths now. works well. only thing i've been having temps of 98.5-99.6 randomly. started 3 months ago. is this ok?

Accepted Answer

Yes: 98.6 degrees is normal body temperature & it is not considered a fever until you reach 101.  I have not known wellbutrin (bupropion) to cause this kind of problem in all my years of prescribing it since the mid 90's.

i took wellbutrin (bupropion) for 7yrs.been off for 4mnths.can i take it on days that i feel overly anxious? will it work, or does it have to be in system longer?

Get an evaluation: Sounds like you might need another assessment of your symptoms so you can get an accurate diagnosis and treatment. It is not recommended in most cases to take wellbutrin (bupropion) on an as needed basis.

In small ways: The sustained release form wil lower bloodstream peaks and raise trough. The smaller variations in concentration are more likely to reduce side effects (if you have any) than change the overall primary effect as the latter arises from long-term presence of the med.

is it safe to take wellbutrin (bupropion) with inositol? will inositol cause wellbutrin (bupropion) to not work as well?

???: Why would you want to use inositol? Are you clear on dosage? Wellbutrin (bupropion) is used an antidepressant, but there are many better known medications to use than inositol. This is more complicated than it seems. Check with the physician who prescribed the wellbutrin (bupropion).

Common Combination: Wellbutrin (bupropion) is often added to other antidepressants (and vice versa) because it has unique properties--it's in a class by itself. Be sure to review the risks/benefits and alternatives with your prescriber.

tried celexa, made anxiety worse, sister tried it, same reaction. she had success w/ wellbutrin (bupropion) said it works differently, could this help me?

Reactions are unique: What we are learning is that each individual reacts uniquely to different medications. Your and your sister's reaction is paradoxical, in that Celexa (citalopram) tends to reduce anxiety. So you might try Welbutrin, although that tends to be activating. When I have patients using Welbutrin, I generally ask the prescribing psychiatrist to add Clonazepam (Klonopin) if there are high levels of anxiety as well.

i'm on day 7 of taking wellbutrin (bupropion) 150  xl and have intolerable nausea half of the day  (unable to work). what is the duration of this side effect?

Probably ongoing : If you continue (after at week) to have such a severe side effect from the wellbutrin, (bupropion) then it's highly likely that you will not "get through" it and feel better. I would recommend discussing a change to another antidepressant with your psychiatrist.

hello, is it true that the effect of paxil (paroxetine) and wellbutrin both become less or insignificant by the time (work to limit time then not working in body).

It can happen with: Any antidepressant. We do not know why this happens. We also unfortunately do not have any comparative data on the antidepressants in this regard. Clinically i would say that I have seen Prozac last the longest without requiring change (unpublished data from my practice). We have two year data on Paxil (paroxetine) in this regard. When it happens, we augment or switch. Godt nytt år!

wellbutrin (bupropion) sr 150mg has been keeping me awake all night for a week now.. i take it early in the morning like 7ish... will this go away or should i ask my doctor for an immediate  release or a smaller dose?

It improves: Your body tends to get use to it's long acting effects but if you cannot endure a week or two of your symptoms then your better off changing to the immediate release form. The good thing about the SR is that it dose not have to put your through those up's and downs.
