Neuropathy symptoms: Tingling and sense of heat are common symptoms of neuropathy.  Often, when there are other stimuli, like the pressure of stockings, the symptoms are less noticeable.  Think of when you have a small cut, it hurts, and you apply pressure and it feels better.  A "pinched nerve" per se should not necessarily feel better with applied pressure.

In this case it sounds like it might be the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve - neuralgia paresthetica, but could be any one of a number of other things. Below: If no recent trauma, no cuts, abrasions, redness, or warmth--then it is prob a muscle injury that should respond to intermittent ice for about 15 min, followed by warm moist packs 4 times per day.

If it persists, worsens, becomes swollen, or painful, then suggest DR visit.
