Paresthesia: A sensation of feeling without a stimulus is called a paresthesia - often related to irritation of a nerve. In this case it sounds like it might be the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve - neuralgia paresthetica, but could be any one of a number of other things. See doc if you note other unexplained symptoms.
