The most common significant adverse effects include hallucinations, visual impairment, and impairment of renal function. Others include rash, fever, chills, headache, n/v, and hypokalemia.

i am currently taking voriconazole for histoplasmosios. can this cause neck pain? neck pain started about 2 weeks ago, and hasnt let up. it only hurts on the left side. what can i do?

Neck : Neck or muscle pain is not listed as a side effect of voriconazole. This pain is likely caused by something else. Possibly a muscle spasm or strain. Have you tried any pain medications? If not try tylenol (acetaminophen) or motrin. Also a heating pad may help. If the problem worsens or persists see your doctor.

: If chronic alcoholism, 3-4 weeks. If acute alcoholic binge, perhaps 2-3 weeks. If typical “social” alcohol consumption (1-2 shots over 24 hrs) 24 hrs should do it. As in all things, moderation is best

Yes: Voriconazole 1% as a topical eye drop has shown efficacy in treating fungal keratitis. It can be used as an alternative to Natamycin 5% drops or Amphotericin B 0.15% drops for treating fungal keratitis. It can be used as a topical fortified solution made my diluting IV voriconazole with sterile water and filtering the solution before administration.  The hope is to avoid the systemic side effects.

So we should concentrate on the fungal species to treat for choosing the azole rather than worrying about side effects
