ive dry chapped cracked lips(specially lower lips) all year. i use vaseline every night and take it off with tissue next morning which gives it mild exfoliation. im tired of it. what is permanent treatment for my lips?

Lip allergy or...: Persistent chapped lips may be treated like skin eczema, using hydrocortisone cream plus Vaseline or Aquaphor to retain moisture. Sometimes lipsticks or lip sunscreen chemicals are causing an allergic reaction on the lips. Other times, a person is a lip-licker (it's her habit). Once cracked, lips get irritated by foods and juices. Vaseline itself is just oil and thus shouldn't cause allergies.

Not healing: Vaseline will protect the lips from drying while they heal themselves, but it doesn't actually "heal.".

See doctor: Unusual place for fungus but unlikely to be from allergy in the absence of itching.  Consult your doctor or a dermatologist.

Lip balm can cause!: Many people become addicted or at least dependent on lip balm; lip balms often have chemicals that irritate lips. Ingredients in toothpastes and gums may also irritate your lips. Try stopping lip balm, explore a diff. toothpaste, drink more water and supplement with fish oil. See

i used a lip liner along with vaseline. in  5days, i saw some white mark on my lower lips. then i stopped using. now the mark remains same. what to do?

Cannot answer : Without an examination, it is difficult to know what is going on.  Doctors observe things like whether the mark is in the outer layers or deeper.  We take a history: how long has the mark been there and whether you have any risks for cancer in the area like excessive sun exposure, smoking or hpv. Then we put it all together for a diagnosis so we can decide how to treat it!

sometimes i notice extremely tiny holes on my lip, generally in the center of the top lip. they have no issues (pain, itch, bleeding, etc) but they go away when i apply vaseline. what's going on?

: Other than pores at the edge of the lips, I only know of developmental abnormalities of the.lips where so called lip caves occur. A dentist or oral surgeon would be best to examine &amp; advise you. If you're referring to pores, the Vaseline can cover them but sometimes this leads to retained debris and pimple formation.

i use vaseline, but it doesn't go away, is it safe to put polysporin (bacitracin and polymyxin) on your lips?

Sometimes: Using topical polysporin (bacitracin and polymyxin) in small quantities on a lip lesion that is or may become infected is usually safe, but ir is important to avoid licking it an minimize ingestion. Systemic antibiotics taken by mouth is probably preferable. See your doctor if healing does not occur.

Possible yeast infx: Could be one of several things. Yeast, or Candida, infections can cause these symptoms, but they would be more generalized throughout the mouth. Could be your toothpaste or mouthwash; you might consider changing these. Is your mouth dry? Could be one of the more common autoimmune conditions such as Sjogren's syndrome, and making that diagnosis would require a biopsy. If it persists, see a doctor!

Chapped lips: To prevent or treat chapped lips you can apply honey or coconut oil to the lips several times a day. Or you can apply fresh cream to your lips for ten minutes. Wash off with tepid water.

: It probably wouldn't hurt anything, but is unlikely to help. One of the most common causes of vaginal area itching is yeast infection (which contrary to popular belief, does not cause discharge or odor, only itching). Best to see a doctor, especially if the itchy area is red, irritated, etc. Good luck.
