Probably not: Usually a hard bony lesion at the midline of your palate is a benign mass called a 'palatal torus'.  They can also be found on the insides of the lower jaw by the tongue.  If it has grown rapidly, or is painful, you may want to have it checked by your dental professional.  Vascular lesions are usually soft and slightly moveable instead of hard and fixed.  Either way, check with your dentist.

There are many treatments for avm's including sclerotherapy, embolization and surgery.

Common and benign: Cavernous malformations, or cavernous angiomas, or cavernomas, are a type of vascular abnormality of the central nervous system. They consist of a cluster of abnormal, dilated vessels. People are typically born with a tendency to have develop them, but are usually benign and most everyone do not have any symptoms, but some may have headaches or neurologic symptoms, and should see a neurologist.

No: Mostly these cavernous sinuses are benign and for cosmetic purpose you can get laser or surgery for them . Sometimes they regress by themselves.

Not needed: If your doctor did a biopsy and the result was a vascular malformation, then there is really no need to get a second opinion.  However, there is no harm in doing so, but the second opinion may come at the price of another biopsy. :).

Very accurate: A biopsy that is properly done is very accurate, and you should have great confidence in your diagnosis.  But, it is only accurate for the exact time and status of the lesion when the biopsy was performed.  Some biopsies may be inconclusive, or the lesion may mature into some other presentation over time.  Be sure that you follow up with your physician or dentist with regular checkups to follow it.

mri result showed dark spot in pons area. radiologist reports reads hemosiderin deposition with possible vascular malformation or remote trauma. no sign of swelling. how serious and urgent in this? cant get back for another mri for awhile.
