Were stockings: Yes will be warm when standing as more blood is in the veins and sitting position less blood is filled in the veins you will benifit by wearing elastic stockings before undergoing any invasive procedures.

Superficial: vein phlebitis is probably what it is. Call your doctor who knows your medical history . If you can not a get a hold of your doctor by phone go to urgent care get checked and tested to rule out dvt.

i have a vein that runs from my thigh over my knee and to my kalf. it is very enlarged and sometimes even warm to the touch. i did have a bloodclot in this leg in 2018 so i am probably only paranoid. is it only a varicose vein?

highly variable: Muscle pain can last moments or months. The hallmark of DVT is asymmetric swelling. Get a tape measure and carefully determine the diameter of your calf at the same level on both sides - if they're not about the same, you need an ultrasound.

Great question!: You are right that heat dilates veins but that is not a permanent condition.  Varicose veins are caused by vein walls that are permanently damaged by not having enough elastic tissue in them and by bad valves.  The major cause for that to happen is heredity, not hot weather.

Early on they may itch and burn, and cause the sensation of fatigue and heaviness.  Later they may bleed externally and untreated may lead to inflammatory changes that result in color changes and scarring of the skin and ulceration.
